At the time, he was a professor at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, Karnataka, where he taught classes on gross anatomy, histology, embryology, and neuroanatomy, among other things. He has helped the scientific community by writing articles for both national and international journals and by giving talks at conferences about his research. In addition, he penned the book "Histology: An Atlas." Based on student and teacher evaluations for the 2008–2009 school year, Kasturba Medical College in Manipal gave him the Good Teacher Award and the Preclinical Faculty Award of Excellence.
